Guaranteed Equity Bond

‘I’m after guaranteed tax-free returns. Is there such a thing?’

There certainly is and you’re in the right place to find out how to achieve this.

By introducing you to a Legal & General Financial Adviser in your local branch we’ll put you on your way to making full use of your £7,200 allowance this tax year.

But before you meet with the experts, here’s a quick look at a few of the options open to you:

Stocks & Shares ISA – this allows you to invest up to £7,200 in stocks and shares. This includes equity, bond, and some property funds.

Cash ISAs – If you are looking to invest for the longer term you can put up to £3,600 in a cash ISA in Legal & General's Six Year Capital Guaranteed Bond 7. The Bond will pay 70% of the gain in the FTSE 100 index, or if greater the Bond guarantees a minimum return over six years of 10.00% gross (1.60% Annual Equivalent Rate*).

The rise in the FTSE 100 Index will be measured between the level at the close of business on 6th May 2008 and the average level in the final 12 months. If you need to take out some or all of your money early you may receive back less than you originally invested.

Legal & General's Six Year Capital Guaranteed Bond 7 ISA is available until 30 April 2008. You can invest from as little as £500. In any one year, you can couple your £3,600 Cash ISA with a £3,600 stocks and shares ISA. The deposit taker is Cater Allen Limited, a member of the Abbey Group of companies.

*The Annual Equivalent Rate (AER) shows the notional rate assuming interest was paid and compounded yearly. As every savings product advertisement, which quotes an interest rate, must show the AER, this lets you compare products more easily. The Gross rate is the contractual rate of interest payable before the deduction of income tax at the rate specified by law.

The tax efficiency of ISAs is based on current tax law. Please note that the current tax situation may not be maintained.

Both Bradford & Bingley and Legal & General are authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority. Please note that Bradford & Bingley do not give advice or personal recommendations on these products.

* Calls provided by BT will be charged at 2 pence per minute during the daytime and 0.5 pence per minute during the evening, 7 days per week. A call set-up fee of 6 pence per call applies to calls from residential lines. Mobile and other providers’ charges may vary.  These costs are not imposed or applied by Bradford & Bingley and may be subject to change in the future.
